True art wins out. It drives me crazy when people say, who “listens to jazz or funk nowadays.” I reply I do! So the timing could not be better that Teddy Presberg showed up in my inbox recently. Teddy’s music hit a certain tone with me, not to mention I am a huge fan of vintage sounding keys. From now when someone says, jazz and funk are dead, I will simply play for the them any of the super bad ass, hard-hitting songs off “Blueprint of Soul.”
There is constant innovation all around us, sometimes just not marketing dollars behind this art form, but you cannot do any better then play “Blueprint of Soul.” When you listen to Teddy you will be reminded that this album and its gimmick free, glowing sound and that all pervasive Teddy powerful funk thumping, foot tapping sound will take a hold of you. The power of this art form is alive and doing so dam well when you have musicians like Teddy that craft a solid album. Every song resonates with the beauty and power of true funky jazz but has just enough of that Teddy spin on it to make it fresh. There is power to his playing, a thunderous sound that will rattle you to the core.
