Do you ever want to ditch work, sit on a park bench and pretend that the world isn’t complicated? That’s how The Northern Key make me feel. Their self-titled album is filled with meditative ballads, steeped in acoustic guitar, cellos, and soft crooning. “Cowboy Indian” is a standout for its delicate and somber reflections while “Solid” has a a very cool psychedlica-electronica vibe. But, of course, “Park Peace” is the track I’d choose if I was going to play hooky and head to nature. The Northern Key is audio herbal tea: calm and lovely and a nice sanctuary from one’s busy day.
